Individual Case Safety Reports, or ICSRs, are a large part of the safety and pharmacovigilance lifecycle. From reporting product problems, adverse events, and consumer complaints, the information they provide is integral in ensuring the safety of medicinal products.\u00a0Traditionally, ICSRs\u00a0were seen as\u00a0cumbersome,\u00a0though\u00a0widely accepted that ICSRs are a necessary tool.\u00a0Today, organizations can handle these more efficiently with the use of \u2018\u2019Smart ICSRs\u2019\u2019\u00a0that utilize\u00a0built-in automation\u00a0and intelligence.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During a recent\u00a0Industry Perspectives: The Concept of Smart ICSRs<\/a> with\u00a0Soterius<\/a>, a global leader of drug safety and medical outsourcing services and solutions,\u00a0participants\u00a0were asked\u00a0how\u00a0case\u00a0processing will change in the next 5 to 10 years, and what should we expect.\u00a0Twenty-four percent of\u00a0respondents indicated they feel that\u00a0case\u00a0processing will be needed but\u00a0would\u00a0be\u00a0greatly simplified with the use of technology. \u201cWe need to start using technology to handle that entire new bucket of information,\u201d said\u00a0Suneet\u00a0Walia<\/a> of\u00a0Soterius, a client of ArisGlobal utilizing LifeSphere\u00a0Multivigilance. \u201cFor all aspects of the PV organization, this is really going to impact people not just in case processing, but in looking at aggregate data, signal detection, and even extending over to pharma QIP folks who look at much larger, macro data sources.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another poll question asked respondents if their organization<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is now dealing with larger volumes of data, how have they adapted<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Though the poll allowed for multiple responses, an overwhelming majority of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>respondents,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>65%<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0indicated that they have mainly focused on optimizing their business processes. \u201cThese responses reflect how the PV industry is right now.
